NE&SS-Marine Systems has a proud heritage of designing and building advanced technology products. We are recognized as the industry leader in design, manufacture, and support of the world's premier missile launching system, the MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS), as well as being a leader in the design of some of the most advanced ship hull forms operating today. Our mission is to build top-quality, affordable systems. And we've been doing it successfully since 1929 when Glenn L. Martin opened his brand new manufacturing facility at our site in Baltimore, Maryland. Since then, we’ve come a long way and we're excited about our future.

MK 41 VLS is one of our proudest achievements. Designed and built at our facility, the MK 41 is now utilized in eleven navies worldwide. This modular launch system fires a variety of missiles and has revolutionized naval warfare by expanding the mission capability of surface combatants. Today, our highly skilled team is hard at work on a new, even more revolutionary launching system for the US Navy’s latest combatant, the DD 21.

At the same time, working along side our VLS team is another product team that’s completely different, yet equally cutting edge technology - SLICE™. A revolutionary hull form, SLICE™ offers a stable, fast platform for surface ships of the 21st century. In a perfect world ships would operate in calm seas, but in the real world they must operate safely and efficiently in some very rough water. Over the past 25 years our engineers have realized that one way to design a ship that can overcome rough water is to divide the boat in half, putting much of it well below the surface and the rest well above. This idea is the "small waterplane area twin-hull" or SWATH ship. Now our engineers have taken the idea one step further, converting the two-legged SWATH into an innovative four-legged SLICE™.
