The canister serves as both the shipping container and launch rail for each missile. It protects the missile in transit, during loading, and when installed in the launcher module. It provides additional shock isolation and enhances survivability and reliability. The canister is constructed of corrugated steel. There are 2 basic canisters used for all missile types. Each canister is configured to be missile specific internally.
