Lockheed Martin Receives EPA's New Performance Track Outreach Award

Manassas, VA, April 24  EPA Administrator Christie Whitman presented the Environmental Protection Agency's Performance Track Outreach award to Lockheed Martin's Undersea Systems business at the 2003 National Environmental Performance Track Members Event in Washington, D.C., on April 9, 2003.

Undersea Systems was one of just six companies in the nation selected to receive the new Outreach award, which recognizes outstanding efforts in public education and in motivating other facilities to join the EPA Performance Track program. According to Whitman, "Performance Track members achieve superior environmental performance that is valuable not only to a company's good name and reputation, but also to the Nation's success in making our air cleaner, our water purer, and our land better protected for future generations."

The National Environmental Performance Track, launched in June 2000, recognizes and rewards members for their commitment to sound environmental management, continuous environmental improvements, local community involvement, and a strong record of compliance. Member facilities represent small and large companies from the manufacturing, chemical, and automotive industries, among others.

Lockheed Martin NE&SS-Undersea Systems, with headquarters in Manassas, VA, is a leader in developing and integrating complex systems for domestic and international military, civil government, and commercial customers, and is assessed at Level 5 against the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMIŽ). Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, Lockheed Martin is a global enterprise principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture and integration of advanced technology systems products and services.
